Toddler Room

Welcome to the Toddler Room. The Toddler Room ratio is one teacher for every six children with the total of twelve children and two staff members. The age range in this classroom is between 15 and 24 months. Now our babies are more mobile...watch out world here they go! In the toddler classroom the children are participating in circle time and they are starting to sing the ABC’s and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star with us. All classroom teachers create and implement their own developmentally appropriate curriculum plan. This lesson plan includes a color, a number, a shape, and a letter of the week. The children are learning colors, counting to ten, learning sign language, Spanish, and having lots of fun creating art. Now they are starting to express their emotions and feelings and the teachers use redirection methods to deal with this. Each day the teacher writes “Daily Grams”, these will tell you a bit about your child’s day...what they are eating, how long they napped, diapers change times, and such. Teachers also use Daily Grams as a way to communicate whether your baby needs any extra supplies. Our toddlers can now go to the outside playground, when weather permits, and at meal times they are learning to say grace: “God is great and God is good, And we thank God for our food; By God's hand, we must be fed, Give us Lord, our daily bread. Amen”. At 8:00 a.m. each morning St John Preschool provides all children over the age of one with a warm breakfast consisting of milk, cereal and fruit. Lunch is served at 11:00 a.m. and includes milk, vegetable, fruit, grain, and meat. Snack is at 3:00 p.m. We always serve home cooked meals
