Welcome to our two year old classroom. The ratio in this room is one teacher per every eight children or two staff members for every sixteen. At 2 years of age many parents are starting to potty train their children and often ask if we can help, the answer is a most definitive yes. We like to use the same potty training method parents are using at home to prevent the child from becoming confused. We also have a bathroom adjacent to the classroom, which makes it easy for the teacher to take the children to the bathroom. Once they transition to the two year old classroom the children are now on a more set schedule. We like to encourage our parents to have the children at the preschool by 9:00 a.m. this way the child can take advantage of our educational activities. Each day the teacher writes “Daily Grams”, these will tell you a bit about your child’s day...what they are eating, how long they napped, diapers change times, and such. Teachers also use Daily Grams as a way to communicate whether your baby needs any extra supplies. All classroom teachers create and implement their own developmentally appropriate curriculum plan. This lesson plan includes a bible story, a color, a number, a shape, and a letter of the week. Now that we are in the two year old classroom the children participate in Chapel, where Pastor comes in on Wednesday mornings for a short children’s service. What a joyful noise unto the Lord they make! At 8:00 a.m. each morning St John Preschool provides all children over the age of one with a warm breakfast consisting of milk, cereal and fruit. Lunch is served at 11:00 a.m. and includes milk, vegetable, fruit, grain, and meat. Snack is at 3:00 p.m. We always serve home cooked meals. At meal times they are saying or singing grace. “God is great and God is good, And we thank God for our food; By God's hand, we must be fed, Give us Lord, our daily bread. Amen”.
