Welcome to our 4’s classroom! The ratio in this room is one teacher for every fifteen children or two teachers for thirty. In this classroom we are preparing our children to succeed in kindergarten. We encourage our parents to arrive by 9:00 AM which is when our academic portion of the day begins. Each day the teacher writes “Daily Grams”, these will tell you a bit about your child’s day...what they are eating, how long they napped, and such. Teachers also use Daily Grams as a way to communicate whether your child needs any extra supplies. All classroom teachers create and implement their own developmentally appropriate curriculum plan. We continue learning sign language, Spanish, and having lots of fun doing art. The children by this age are now learning sight words, writing first and last names, identifying letters and learning the sounds they make, as well as ab /ABC/ and abcd patterns. At 8:00 a.m. each morning St John Preschool provides all children over the age of one with a warm breakfast consisting of milk, cereal and fruit. Lunch is served at 11:00 a.m. and includes milk, vegetable, fruit, grain, and meat. Snack is at 3:00 p.m. We always serve home cooked meals. At meal times they are saying or singing grace. “God is great and God is good, And we thank God for our food; By God's hand, we must be fed, Give us Lord, our daily bread. Amen”.
