Welcome to the 2’s & 3’s classroom! The ratio in this classroom is one teacher for every eight children or two staff members for every sixteen. These ratios are mandated by the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, but we try to keep it at one to eight. Students in the class are learning shapes, numbers, colors and letters, similar to the younger 2’s classroom but guided more toward their needs. All classes participate in circle time at 9:00 AM. Circle time is part of our daily routine when all around the preschool you can hear the children say the Pledge of Allegiance, the Lord's Prayer and the good morning song. They practice the days of the week, the month, weather… Circle time is one of our favorite times of the day as well as chapel time on Wednesday mornings. We invite and encourage parents and family members to come and visit and enjoy these moments with us. Each day the teacher writes “Daily Grams”, these will tell you a bit about your child’s day...what they are eating, how long they napped and such. Teachers also use Daily Grams as a way to communicate whether your child needs any extra supplies. All classroom teachers create and implement their own developmentally appropriate curriculum plan. This lesson plan includes a bible story, a color, a number, a shape, and a letter of the week. At 8:00 a.m. each morning St John Preschool provides all children over the age of one with a warm breakfast consisting of milk, cereal and fruit. Lunch is served at 11:00 a.m. and includes milk, vegetable, fruit, grain, and meat. Snack is at 3:00 p.m. We always serve home cooked meals. At meal times they are saying or singing grace. “God is great and God is good, And we thank God for our food; By God's hand, we must be fed, Give us Lord, our daily bread. Amen”.
