Welcome to Baby Room #2. The age range in this classroom is between 12 and 14 months, and the ratio is one teacher for every six children with the total of eight children and two staff members. Once our babies transition to this classroom they are in a more set routine. By this age the babies are eating table foods. Here at St. John we provide breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack. If the child drinks any special milk the parent is responsible to provide it. At this age our babies are becoming more independent as far as walking and self-feeding. They also use cots instead of cribs and they can now use blankets at nap time. Similar to our other classrooms, the children will have inside and outside the classroom cubby space for their personal belongings. Parents will need to provide diapers, wipes, and two or three sets of extra clothes. All these items need to be labeled and will remain in their cubbies to be used as needed. Each day the teacher writes “Daily Grams”, these will tell you a bit about your child’s day...what they are eating, how long they napped, diapers change times, and such. Teachers also use Daily Grams as a way to communicate whether your baby needs any extra supplies. Our teachers create and implement developmental curriculum plans for each age level. Reading, singing, sign language, art, and Spanish words are part of our lesson plans.
